I have been part-time with Terry's for 6 years! This year I became a Social Media Contributor. You will see my work on Facebook, Instagram, and this blog. Yes, I am the author of the Terry's blogs you've read this year! You might recognize me as the one wearing the Terry's apron and spending in-depth time with each customer. I really enjoy my job because I care a lot (as in, this is my life's passion) about helping people find a better quality of life through managing their health, creating a healthier environment for everyone, and adopting a more organic and natural lifestyle. Nothing makes me happier than when customers return and tell me how well our recommendations worked for them! I was attracted to working at Terry's because of my own health journey. There are a lot of food and environmental allergies and sensitivities in my family, and so I grew up always thinking about making choices that wouldn't harm myself or my family. I became a master of reading labels and researching ingredients to protect myself and my family. I did not outgrow all of my allergies, and then in my 20's I developed some life-changing chronic illnesses. After getting really sick for a couple of weeks with a terrible virus and getting poisoned by black mold, I never fully recovered. I was bedridden for a little while before finding a tremendous amount of help from a Naturopathic Doctor, and I was able to find wonderful medical specialists who studied me and diagnosed me with a laundry list of conditions. For the past 9 years my life has completely revolved around managing my health, which is why I only work part-time. I have had the most success managing naturally (with the help of my doctors and practitioners) with food, non-toxic body care, herbs, supplements, and physical therapies. I'm still learning and discovering every day, and I love that I am able to come to work and talk about solutions with our customers who also need help! Sarah's Favorite Food at Terry's is: Nuco's Coconut Wraps Original These wraps are the perfect solution for me! The ingredients are super simple, but they taste really good and they fit my strict diet. One thing I missed on my diet was the ability to make something like a sandwich (I can't tolerate grains, starches, or lectins), and now with these I can! I love to make a wrap with these using Primal Kitchen Mayo, turkey, an avocado, spring mix, and sprouts. All organic, of course! Oh, and something else that's great about these? They have coconut water in them, which is full of electrolytes (something I need a lot of.) Sarah's Favorite Drinks at Terry's are: Ultima Replenisher Cherry Pomegranate Electrolyte Mix I can't drink plain water without it going directly through me - in fact, plain water dehydrates me because I just can't absorb it. So I thicken all my water with electrolyte powders. It makes it so the water goes through me much more slowly, giving my kidneys a chance to absorb the water. I also have a condition (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) that causes my body to need a ton of electrolytes, kind of like how an athlete that sweats a lot needs to keep replenishing their electrolytes. This is the best solution on the market that I have found because it doesn't have any sugar, but the mineral content is strong enough to do the job. All of the flavors are strong and really good, but this flavor is just simply my favorite. Kevita Lemon Cayenne This is just so refreshing! It has very low sugar, but tastes satisfying when I need something fruity or indulgent. It is probiotic rich without being fermented, and the cayenne feels so good because I like a little kick every once in a while. Sarah's Favorite Supplement at Terry's is: Oregon Wild Harvest Licorice Root This is what fuels me to feel stable and good during a shift at work. My blood pressure tends to run low, sometimes too low, and sometimes it suddenly drops while I'm walking around or talking too long. I also have adrenal fatigue issues. Licorice root is the solution for me because it increases blood pressure, and it extends the life of my cortisol so I don't crash as easily. It's also warming, and I tend to run cold from poor circulation! I would also like to point out that this brand recently converted all of their supplements to glass bottles, which I really respect. Sarah's Favorite Household Product at Terry's is: Biokleen's Oxygen Bleach Plus I can't be around chlorine. I'm too chemically sensitive to tolerate it without feeling sick. I do like to keep my house and laundry sanitized though! This is powdered oxygen with grapefruit seed extract added. It doesn't have a smell, but it will whiten and sanitize so well that you'll assume I used typical chlorine bleach. Unlike chlorine, this actually conditions fabric too! Sarah's Favorite Personal Care Products at Terry's are: Badger Balm's Unscented Cleansing Oil This is, by far, my favorite make-up remover. It is effortless, super gentle, has no smell, perfectly safe and comfortable around my eyes, and just plain works. It's the best organic companion for my organic make-up! It's easy: I use 4 pumps in my palm, then spread it all over my face. I gently rub my eye lids and lashes with it. It keeps spreading because it's pure oil. Then when I have successfully smeared my make up all over my face, I soak a washcloth in warm water and use it to wipe my face. All my make up comes off with no resistance, and my skin doesn't feel dry or stripped. It's also important to me to avoid as much plastic as possible, and this is in glass! Acure Rejuvenating Dual Phase Bakuchiol Serum This is actually a brand new product, so I almost feel bad for choosing this over my other staples that I've been using for years. I'm just that impressed with this! This serum has two layers: yellow and blue. You shake it up to turn it green, then it's ready to go on your skin. That's fun! It comes with a dropper so that I get a measured amount each time. I drop it in my palm and rub it all over my face as my moisturizer. It leaves me slightly dewy, but smooth and very soft. My make up goes over it really well (and I use a powder foundation - this is enough to keep my skin hydrated all day despite the powder, even though it's lightweight). I've noticed it helping to reduce my fine lines with only a few weeks of use. It also reduces my redness and evens out my skin tone beautifully! Also, note that it's in glass! Sarah's Favorite Bonus Product at Terry's: Vital Proteins Collagen Creamer Vanilla I'm such a big fan of this! My morning ritual every morning is to brew a mug of green tea and add this creamer and mushroom powder. This powder turns frothy when I pour hot water over it, and it keeps a nice layer of vanilla froth on the top of my tea the whole time I drink it. It's a great texture, and the flavor is subtle and complimentary to my tea. It's even better in coffee, but I don't tolerate coffee very well. Breakfast for me is almost entirely pure protein, and I get an extra 10g of protein from the collagen in this. My fingernails have improved a lot from this. The mix of collagen and silica is a perfect blend for hair, skin, and nail health. They used to peel and flake, and now they're thick and strong. They grow a lot faster too! Author: Sarah Langer
